This website has several different sections. The first part, the home page, is where you go straight to the goodies. No explanation needed. At the top, you will find “blog” which is where I will post announcements and eventually allow posts….but only after this website is working properly.
You will also find at the top, “Articles and Information”. I plan to allow others to submit articles from time to time. Why not! My opinions and experiences are not the only ones out there.
In fact, if you would like to submit an article, go ahead and do so. I promise to look at it!
This is not the first AZdustdevil Photographic website. The first one, a conventional website, was built about five years ago with Micro$oft Front Page. It was good for a beginner, and I knew nothing about code or website structure at the time. I used Front Page in WYSIWYG which produced horrible code. Front Page is no longer sold nor is it supported by MS, and now many hosting companies (mine included) are no longer carrying Front Page extensions on the servers. This new site is powered by WordPress. I have a lot of good things to say about the WordPress system, and only a few bad things.
WordPress is free and open source. Expensive, difficult editing software like Dreamweaver is not required for WordPress. It involves a simple upload of the latest version of WordPress to your hosting server, install, and go straight to the Dashboard, which is the online editing system that is built right in. Neat!
A word about the template I used to build this site. It is specifically designed specifically for photographers. Typical bloggers or news organizations would not care for it. To have a blog in the traditional sense, I had to set it up as a secondary part of the website. That is where you will find articles and daily posts, etc.
If you have suggestions for the site, please send them along to me! Meanwhile, keep coming back for the future slideshows, articles, and featured photos.
